Long Overdue.

Hello everyone!!! I have been a horrible blogger...so sorry! I'm going to try my hardest to get more regular with posts. On that note, why don't I fill you in on what's been going on in my life these past few months :)

Life has been great. I have the most amazing husband EVER and so enjoy married life with him (it will be 3.5 years in Dec!). In case you missed a few of the past posts, we are pregnant! Expecting our first little baby BOY in February :) I cannot tell you how excited we are. I can hardly imagine him and what life is going to be like when he arrives. We love him SO much already. I am now almost 23 weeks along! Over half way and time is zooming by now. I absolutely LOVE being pregnant...but as time goes on I get more and more ready to meet him and have him be here!!!

This fall has been full of wonderful photo shoots. Maternity, engagement, family, etc. I have many more shoots next month, so look out for those! I plan to continue working through January. I then plan on taking Feb-April off to enjoy our little baby and spend lots of time with him! I will jump back into shooting portraits in May and shooting weddings starting in June. I will be busy with shooting weddings about one day a week...but the great part is I get to work at home the rest of the time and be with my little baby! Having a job where I can work and edit at home is a blessing.

My goal is to start blogging my shoots more. I'm going to attempt to do this and see if I can stick to it! Keep checking back for more shoots and awesome blog posts! Thanks for reading! :)

Tick Tock.

As I sit here waiting for over 900 wedding photos to export I am feeling and thinking so many things! I thought I would share them with you while I wait :) One, I am super excited that I finished my last wedding before my next one this sunday. Two, I am tired! I need to go to bed. Three, my baby is making my nauseous...and I can't wait for this first trimester to be over about 2.5weeks!!! Four, now that photography work is done for the week, I can get my house ready for the sitter that is coming to take care of our baby skittles and watch our house while we go on vacation. Five, I really need to pack! On saturday we are leaving for Santa Cruz to shoot a wedding! Hooray! We are staying a few extra nights and making it a vacation and I seriously CANNOT WAIT. The last real vacation we went on was our honeymoon over 3 years ago! Six, this week some big things happened in prego land...I am starting to show...a little! People are even noticing which means I really am! In result a couple things happened. One, it means our baby is growing, yay! Two, my clothes are starting not to fit :( Time to buy some maternity clothes! So those are my thoughts for tonight. Look out for some awesome Santa Cruz Wedding photo sneak peeks next week! You won't want to miss those! Thanks for reading!!! :)

Growing my baby :)

Shame on me! It's been over a month since I last blogged!!! So sorry it's been so long:( I seriously feel like I've been in a daze for about the last month. And I believe this is due to the fact about a month ago we found out we are pregnant!!! This is just about the most exciting, amazing thing to happen to us:) It's truly a blessing and I still can't believe it! With that said I have been a little off my game, getting use to all these new changes.

There is so much you go through when your prego, that is new and exciting and challenging. I'm learning to balance all these new changes and manage my new time schedule. I was talking to someone the other day and I feel I finally summed up what is going on...I have no longer have control over the things I once did. My little baby inside me know runs the show, lol. I have been loving being prego, knowing our little child is growing in me...but it definitely has some challenges. I've heard in the second trimester you gain back sooo much energy and I am looking forward to that! I feel like most my days have been consumed with: eating every 2 hours (to keep that yucky nausea down!), taking a 2 hour nap in the afternoon...man being tired when you're prego is no joke! If I don't have a nap I am dead by the end of the day and can barely function. And my days have been filled with lots of paper work...getting our medical insurance all figured out, and other wonderful details to start preparing for our little baby:) Now I don't want you to think I'm complaining at all...just hoping you all better understand what's been going on with me and my life!

Tonight I got a wonderful burst of energy to get work done (as you can see since it's past 1am and this rarely happens since I got pregnant). I got a good chunk of editing done, caught up on my emails and got to write this wonderful bloggy blog post :) I'm hoping this energy kicks up and I can get back into my good business work flow.

I still am in shock that I am pregnant! It is such a blessing and it is true that the Lord knows the perfect timing. I am in my 9th week and our little baby is due in February:) I am so excited for all the amazing things to come! Here are just a few of the things I'm looking forward to...

*Starting to really "show" and have a real bump...(you'd be surprised how long it feels it takes to actually look pregnant!)
*Feeling my little baby inside me!!!...I cannot wait to feel him move...it will definitely make it even more real
*Finding out the sex!...If you ask anyone close to me and they'll tell you I'm strongly convinced it's a boy. I chalk it up to my "motherly intuition". I could be wrong and would be delighted with a little girl. But I don't think that is the case this time :)
*Picking out a name with my hubs. We have yet to find any we really love...I think it will come in the perfect time.
*Decorating the baby room and getting everything ready for our little one...I already have a few things done. We painted the room when we moved and I already bought my fabulous anthropologie curtains for the room before it was even a baby room! I also already have the dresser and changing table that I bought off craiglist and need to paint still. I will definitely show pics of all this later!

I'm sure they're are many more things I'm excited about...but that's all I can think of for now:) You can probably expect there to be more personal blog posts like this...it helps to get all my thoughts out! Hopefully you will enjoy them:) I also am going to do my best to get on my "tip tuesdays" and blog photography help and tips next week!!! Hope you all are doing well:) Thanks for reading! Oh and below is probably the most amazing photo I have ever posted!!! You'll just have to scroll down to see it! ;)

A little more.

I've decided I'm going to be posting more about my personal life:) That way even if it's a little bit of info about my day or some random thing, I will at least be posting something! I've found that I'm not super motivated to post about my photo sessions every time. Not because I don't think all my clients are fabulous, but because I feel like my fb page is my main focus for posting photos from shoots and that it can get a bit redundant when I post here about the same thing:) With that said, before I share about my life right now, I have  a question for you all! You must vote about what you would most like me to blog about. Here are your options:

A.) Photo shoots
B.) Photography help & tips
C.) My life
D.) Random facts
E.) Joys and struggles of owning your own business OR
F.) None of the above...something totally different!

And yes...you can choose two :)

I want to know what you guys would most like to read about...then I feel like it makes my blogging worth while:) I will also try to post this on my fb page for you to vote.

So here is my "real" post for today...I had a REALLY busy, but wonderful day! This was not a surprise to me...but it did wipe me out more then I expected. My day really started off with a wonderful lunch date at Plutos with my friend, Danielle. It was so fun to spend time together and just chat away. Then I headed over to my first shoot of the day...a senior shoot with Alyssa:) She is so cute. I also had the pleasure of Danielle shoot with me for this one. She is not only a friend, but a fabulous photographer:) It was so much fun shooting WITH someone else! I have never done that for a portrait shoot and I really, really enjoyed it. It was nice just having someone there to bounce ideas off of, help direct the client, and share technical tips. I have a feeling this will happen more often:) We found some new amazing "secret" spots down town...and that was so fun! It's hard enough to have unique locations that aren't OVER done here in Chico...so it was a treat!

I then had a short break and enjoyed nice, cold water at Starbucks. About 15mins later my second shoot of the day begun. I was smart and planned both shoots downtown...this way it shortened the driving time. Roxanna & David's engagement shoot started in front of Bidwell Pres church and continued around downtown. They are just a gorgeous couple and it was SO fun to shoot them! They were great sports too...willing to try everything I suggested, even if it meant laying in the dirty grass in pretty clothes:) I am so looking forward to shooting their wedding in Santa Cruz in July!

All my shoots for the day wrapped up at about 7pm:) I then met up with my hubs and we got delicious Burger Hut to go...it was just what I needed after a long day in the heat! Honestly though...I was craving a refreshing lemonade the most. We wrapped up dinner. I cleaned myself up (I seriously had dirt caked on my feet and sweat everywhere). THEN back to uploading/backing up/sorting/editing I went! Here I am hours later just about to wrap up my work day. 2 shoots down, one finished editing, 3 more to go. I am looking forward to tomorrows shoots...I think they will be great! Praying I get good rest and have energy...when going to be at 4am. Hope you enjoyed hearing about my day! :)

Oh, the joys!

Unexpectedly, June has turned into quite a busy month! Usually this is the time of year when wedding season is in full bloom and portrait "season" slows down. Well...that is not the case this year! I am very grateful for the many portrait shoots I have scheduled for this month...but in combination with SO many other work and non-work things going on, I'm starting to feel a bit BUSY. For the most part I love the juggling act of balancing spending time with my hubby, social life, family time, running a business, managing the apartments where I live AND so much more. It's sometimes a bit stressful...but usually fun and challenging :)

I am a big time list maker. I make lists for everything. It keeps my life organized and goals in mind. I love the feeling of crossing things off those oh so detailed lists. If you are anything like me, you know how this feels! If you could see my mac now...it's covered with little lists of 'to do's' on colorful post-it's.  I thought why not 'list' and share some of my current June busyness (and goals) with you. It may help me to vent a bit and feel a little more organized in the end :)

June business work:
*Mine and my hubby's 3 year anniversary on June 6th! Yay! (not business related, but I had to share!)
*This week alone: 5 photo shoots...one of every kind...Engagement, baby, family, senior and individual portrait...which means not only session time, but many hours editing!
*Prepping for my first wedding show: June 26th at the Arc Pavillion here in Chico!
Lots goes into prepping for your first show...ordering business cards, brochures, finding booth decor, designing new albums, printing new canvases, create photo slide show, etc, etc.
*Next week my best friend, Dawn comes to visit for a week!!! Happily putting all work on hold :)
*Expanding Business networking and creating packages.
*More shoots
*Wedding on June 25th
*Wedding Show on June 26th

That's just business work...and the list goes on! Hoping I stay sane through it all. I have made some progress today and plan on getting lots more done in the following weeks. Stay tuned for some more interesting BLOG posts and many new photos!!! To conclude this post I thought I'd post some photos of yours truly from my very own shoot last week :)

Mackenzie: Senior Portraits

Mackenzie is graduating from Chico State this week! After that she is moving to Portland, Oregon. I had a wonderful time taking her senior photos...she is so sweet. We started on campus and then headed to Upper Park to capture some beautiful photos of her in the golden light. She was so natural in front of the camera and knew how to pose herself! Below are a few of my favorites from her session:) Congrats on graduating Mackenzie!!! ENJOY! :)

Sweet Little Mercy

Oh, little Mercy is SO cute! I had a wonderful time photographing her for her 6 month photos! She was happy and sweet through the whole shoot and I was able to get some great shots! I also enjoyed snapping a few photos of her with her awesome parents; Brittany & James. They are such a sweet little family. I loved getting to know them and was so blessed by them. I know they are a great blessing to everyone them come in contact with. The lighting was perfect during their shoot and the location was GORGEOUS! Below are a few of my favorites from the day:) ENJOY!

She put her little arm up there like that all on her own!

LOVE those intense eyes!

Happy baby!

The cute Pippin Family

This is just so sweet.
