To Be Engaged.

Being engaged is one of the most exciting times in your life. I remember it very well. It starts with a romantic proposal...then you have your new bling to show off! Then the whirlwind of wedding planning starts. And of course the best part....the anticipation of marrying your best friend and the man of your dreams! I absolutely LOVED being engaged...of course I LOVE being married more...but I will never forget the amazing time it was. I had a long engagement (a year)...and I really enjoyed every moment of it. It gave me plenty of time to plan...which I also LOVED to do...and plenty of time for the anticipation to build before my big day.

Being the unique, amazing time in life that it is...how can you not document it!? This is where the photographer in me comes out, haha! Of course I am biased...but I feel it is sooooo important to capture this special time in your life. For one, it's probably some of the only "casual" professional photos you will have of you and your sweetie :) Other then my maternity photos...our engagement photos are the only professional photos I have of my hubby and I...and I am SO thankful for them! I have them happily displayed all over our house :) Two, they are great to use for your save the dates...or to display around your reception & house.  Like I said, I have many of them framed around my house...and I love seeing them and remembering that amazing time in life...and laughing at how as the years go by...how young we looked!!! Okay, I'm only going on 5years of marriage...but we sure have changed a lot since then!

And THREE...the most important reason of all to get your engagement photos done, haha...okay...it's not the MOST important reason...but it is a good one. Shooting your engagement photos with yours truly, allows us to get to know each other better. Over the course of your engagement we really will only meet one or two times...the initial booking meeting and then a few weeks before the big day to chat about wedding day details. This gives us the chance to see each other one more time and get to know each other a little more! It also, allows you to see how I work and get comfortable with me and my shooting style. This is super important! You being comfortable is how you get the natural, relax, candid, fun photos that you are wanting when you hire Katelyn Owens Photography! Having your engagement photos done allows you to feel experienced and comfortable when shooting your wedding photos...which makes for AMAZING photos!!!

Okay...I'm done ranting...just thought it was important for you guys to know :) Below are a few of my favorite Engagement photos I've taken :) ENJOY!

Savannah & Jesse: Engagement

These two are so sweet! I had the best time at their photo shoot. They are the kind of people that even though you just met them, feel like you've known them for a long time. They were so natural in front of the camera...it made my job so easy :)

I was thrilled with the gorgeous light and colors we had! Not to mention, Savannah planned their outfits so well. They went perfectly with the different backdrops :) I am so looking forward to shooting their wedding September 2013 at...White Ranch! Enjoy my favorites from their shoot...there are many of them :)

Corrine: Circus 3year Portraits

This little lady was quite the trooper! We did her shoot a couple weeks ago in over 100degree weather! She had a big smile on her face and was so good at listening :) This isn't just any 3year old portrait shoot. This is the 3rd year now that I've taken little Corrine's photos! It is such a blessing when a family hires me to take their child's photos not just one time, but every year! I love to see how much they've changed since the year before.

I remember at her first shoot when she was one year old, I just chased her around Caper Acres and tried to get as many good photos as I could! Then for her 2year old shoot last year we started at Powell's Candy Shop and then took photos in front of cute shops around downtown. And this year Corrine's mama, Jenna had the idea of a circus themed shoot...that I loved!!! There was a dramatic difference from last year to this year in how much she's changed. She was so talkative and interactive. She has become quite the little model and knew exactly what to do!

Enjoy my favorites from this shoot :) And feel free to head on over to my fb page: www.facebook.com/katelynowensphotos to "like" my page and see MORE photos and specials! :)
